【摘要】:Thedeterminationofactinidesbyalphaspectrometryisanessentialfunctionofmanyenvironmentalprograms.Alphaspectrometryallowstheidentificationandquantificationofmostalpha-emittingactinides.Althoughnumerousseparationmethodsareused,thefinalsamplepreparationtechniquehashistoricallybeenbyelectrodeposition.However,electrodepositionmayhavesomedrawbacks,suchastimerequired,incompatibilitywithpriorchemistry,thickdeposits,andlowrecoveries.Theseproblemsmaybeminimizedusingtheneodymiumfluoridemethod.Thesamplemountingtechniquedescribedinthispracticeisrapid,addsanadditionalpurificationstep,sinceonlythoseelementsthatforminsolublefluoridesaremounted,andthesampleandfiltermediacanbedissolvedandremountedifproblemsoccur.Therecoveriesarebetterandresolutionapproachesnormalelectrodepositedsamples.Recoveriesaresufficientlyhighthatforsurveywork,ifquantitativerecoveriesarenotnecessary,tracerscanbeomitted.Drawbackstothistechniqueincludeuseofveryhazardoushydrofluoricacidandthepossibilityofanon-reproducibleandill-definedcountinggeometryfromfiltersthatarenotflat.Also,althoughthetotalturnaroundtimeforcoprecipitationmaybelessthanforelectrodeposition,coprecipitationrequiresmoretimeandattentionfromtheanalyst.1.1Thispracticecoversthepreparationofseparatedfractionsofactinidesforalphaspectrometryasanalternatetoelectrodeposition.Itisapplicabletoanyoftheactinidesthatcanbedissolvedindilutehydrochloricacid.Examplesofapplicablesampleswouldbethefinalelutionfromanionexchangeseparationorthefinalstripfromasolventextractionseparation.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Foraspecifichazardstatement,seeSection9.
