【摘要】:Coatingsthatchemicallychangeduringthecuringprocess,suchasepoxies,vinylesters,polyesters,alkydsandurethanes,becomemoreresistanttosolventsastheycure.Thesecoatingsshouldreachspecificlevelsofsolventresistancepriortobeingtopcoatedandpriortoplacinginservice;thelevelsofsolventresistancenecessaryvarywiththetypeofcoatingandtheintendedservice.Rubbingwithaclothsaturatedwiththeappropriatesolventisonewaytodeterminewhenaspecificlevelofsolventresistanceisreached.However,thelevelofsolventresistancebyitselfdoesnotindicatefullcureandsomecoatingsbecomesolventresistantbeforetheybecomesufficientlycuredforservice.Thetimerequiredtoreachaspecificlevelofsolventresistancecanbeinfluencedbytemperature,filmthickness,airmovementand,forwater-borneorwater-reactivecoatings,humidity.Thetestsolventrsquo;effectuponthecoatingvarieswithcoatingtypeandsolventused.Thecoatingmanufacturermayspecifythesolvent,thenumberofdoublerubs,andthespecifictestresultsneeded.1.1Thispracticedescribesasolventrubtechniqueforassessingthesolventresistanceofanorganiccoatingthatchemicallychangesduringthecuringprocess.Thistechniquecanbeusedinthelaboratory,inthefield,orinthefabricatingshop.TestMethodD4752isthepreferredmethodforethylsilicatezinc-richprimers.1.2Thispracticedoesnotspecifythesolvent,numberofdoublerubs,orexpectedtestresults.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Consultthesupplier''sMaterialSafetyDataSheetforspecifichazardinformationrelatingtothesolventused.
