【摘要】:Dimensionstoneischosenforuseincontemporaryarchitectureinpartbecauseofitsaestheticappeal.Aestheticscanbesignificantlydiminishedwhendirt,grime,flyash,algaeandothercontaminantscollectonthesurfaceofstone.Thisguideisintendedtoassistthosewhowishtopreservetheoriginalappearanceofanewstructureortoreturnastone-cladbuildingtoitsoriginalcolorandappearance.4.2.1Notethatcleaningmaynotbeabletoreturndiscoloredorfadedstonetoitsoriginalappearance.Thisguidemaybeusedasaconstructiondocument.1.1Thisguidedescribesmaterialsandprocedureswhichmaybeusedtocleandimensionstoneexteriorsaswellastheconditionsunderwhichtheymaybeused.Itisintendedtoaidowners,maintenancesupervisorsandbuildingmanagers,architectsandengineers,andcontractorscleanverticalexteriordimensionstoneoncommercial,residentialandinstitutionalstructures.Thisguidemayalsobehelpfultothosewhowishtocleanstonemasonryonbridges,retainingwalls,ramps,andplazas,andfree-standingstoneobjectssuchasstatuary,memorialsandgravemarkers.1.2Thisguiderelatesprimarily,toroutinemaintenanceofthesurfacefinishofexteriordimensionstone.Thetechniquesnotedhereinmaynotbeappropriateorcosteffectivewithregardtorestorationofdisfigured,severelysoiledorstainedstonework,orofstoneworkofparticularhistoricimportance.Incaseswherestainingoccursonsurfaceswhichhavecultural,civic,historicorarchitecturalsignificance,consultationwithaspecialistisrecommended.1.3TheuserofthisguidemustalsoobtainandhaveonfileatboththejobsiteandtheofficeMaterialSafetyDataSheets(MSDS)describingthenatureofallchemicalproductsutilizedduringthecleaningprocess.1.4Afileofliteraturefromthemanufacturersofallproductsinvolvedwithinthescopeofeachprojectshouldbeavailableforreference.1.5Theseproceduresarenotintendedforinteriorstonework.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatoryrequirementspriortouse.
